Severe dental caries, periodontal disease, accidental falls, external impacts, resulting in missing teeth. Do not "don't replace the missing teeth" just because you hear the word "dental implants" because you find it troublesome or afraid of hard work. Dentists warn that missing teeth are not only unsightly in appearance, but if left unattended, they may also affect daily bite, pronunciation, chewing and other functions, and even cause other intact teeth to become crooked or fall out.
Dr. Liang Jiayuan, director of Modern Dental Implant Center, has years of clinical observation. Most of the main causes of tooth loss in Taiwanese patients are dental caries and periodontal disease. The earliest missing teeth were replaced by dental bridges and removable dentures. However, the process requires grinding teeth one by one and is prone to foreign body sensations, which often makes patients complain. This has also made dental implants, which have advanced technology, become mainstream and more acceptable to most people.
Liang Jiayuan said that if you choose dental implants, the doctor will surgically insert the artificial tooth root into the alveolar bone in the missing tooth area to become the foundation for installing the dental crown. After the artificial tooth root is integrated with the alveolar bone, and then the denture is attached, the tooth can be reconstructed and restored to be as natural as the original tooth.
However, dental implants also have a "torturous" time for patients to wait, because when making a traditional denture crown, the patient must first bite a mold and print a plaster mold. In addition to the time of sending the dental mold to and from the dental implant, it usually takes one to two weeks.
To solve this problem, many domestic medical institutions have successively introduced the new technology of digital dental implants, which no longer requires the traditional impression-taking method, and can complete the production of dentures within one day at the fastest, saving patients a lot of time.
Liang Jiayuan pointed out that the so-called dental implant technology refers to the use of 3D computed tomography before surgery, paired with a 3D digital oral scanner, to reproduce the patient's intraoral condition on the computer. It can be flipped three-dimensionally to view the missing teeth, and further accurately evaluates the width and height of the alveolar bone in the missing tooth area, and conducts more precise positioning to improve the success rate. After dental implantation, a 3D digital oral scan and an all-ceramic crown digital grinder are used to produce all-ceramic dentures. Everything is digitized to help the dental implants regenerate like natural teeth.
Liang Jiayuan described that traditional dental implants rely on the doctor's touch and experience, while digital dental implant technology is like using a navigation system to drive a car. It can more accurately locate the position and size of artificial dental implants, becoming the doctor's third hand. It also avoids the discomfort of traditional impression procedures, reduces the patient's burden, and allows the problem of missing teeth to be improved in a short time.
